In Hawaiian, Keiki means child, and Kupuna means honored elder. With your support, children on Maui bring joy and a higher quality of life to those in their golden years. Though our 501c3, every penny we raise goes towards our dream of bringing the magic of music to our Kupuna.
“I have worked with Maui’s kupuna for many years as an attorney and Kokua Kanawai (friend of the court). In these roles, I have personally witnessed the profound effect of music. It instantly sparks memories of some of the most important moments of their lives - weddings, holidays, concerts, and their youth. It’s a magical thing to watch someone “come alive” when the right song is played. This is why I believe so strongly in Keiki Kupuna’s mission!”
- Erin Lowenthal (Senior Guardian on Maui)
“Every time Keiki Kupuna Musical Organization visits Hale Makua, it's like a bright light shines through the whole facility. The children sing songs that resonate with our seniors, encouraging our community to sing along. It's a beautiful sight to behold!”
- Teresa Lopes (Activities director at Hale Makua)
“I had the pleasure of hosting the beautiful souls of child and teenage musicians, singers, and dancers that volunteer to bring happiness, joy, and love to our senior community. They did an amazing job and it was a blast for all of us.”
-Janaina Monterio (Engage Life Coordinator at Kalama Heights)
When the children of Keiki Kupuna visit, out Kupuna light up and sing along joyfully with every song!

Origin Story
Aloha! Our names are Bobby and Cassie. We are sisters living on Maui. In 2017, our grandma Chris went into hospice. Grandma Chris could no longer attend our musical performances, so we brought the music to her. There was a little stand-up piano in her home where we played and sang songs from her generation. It brought a rare smile to her face every time we did. Then, other homes in the area asked us to come and play for their residents. Soon, we found ourselves bringing this joyful musical experience to many members of the senior community who might have a harder time getting out into the world. Through our nonprofit, we are striving to cement this experience as a permanent fixture on the island of Maui. Please join us in our goal of connecting keiki and kupuna and brightening the lives of all involved.
